Now, let's see if this works.

Okay, problem solved. The new number is 206-339-T,NoB. So, instead of 350, use 339. That's it. The number is fixed on the side column, too. Paul
So I called the 206 number to day and to my chagrin, someone else's message came on. I guess it's down, so don't use it. The next show is recorded, and I'll try to edit it and get it up soon. Paul
Thanks to Josh for upping my bandwidth. I'm the biggest site he hosts, so this is a big favor. I guess I'll be recording a new show tonight after all. Stay tuned. Paul
Due to some scheduling conflicts and bandwidth issues, the next episode will be delayed. I hope to figure it all out tonight, though. Paul
If you haven't seen "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" go watch it. It's epic like "The Lord of the Rings" movies and just plain rocks. I was balling like a baby as Aslan went to the stone table. Paul
Go to DVXUser.com for directions on how to build a camera support called a Fig-Rig for $30. Paul
Here are some tips about copyright law. While many things online are dubious, this seems to jive with what I've heard from those more knowledgeable (read lawyers) than myself. Trust me, your church really doesn't want to break this law (and you shouldn't no matter what your reasons).

On today's "Tech, No Babel", Church Sweeps, Part two in our series on a DIY light kit, Lessons Learned from the Post office and much, much more. Download episode 17 here.
I found a way to get a toll-free number for us to use. Special thanks to gcast for both this number and my back-up hosting. Make sure you follow these directions. 1) Call 1-888-65-GCast (42278) 2) Enter the following "phone number" when prompted (note there's no "e" in Babel): "Tech, No Babl" (832-466-2225) 3) Enter the following "pin": "T, No B" (8662) 4) Listen to your message and finish with the pound key (#). That's it. I get the message and you make an appearance on "Tech, No Babel". Paul
I taped episode 17 last night, but haven't gotten a chance to edit it, update the RSS and upload it. Soon we'll have it up.

I've just created a map on http://www.frappr.com/technobabel. Click on the link and put your push-pin to let me know where you are. I'm just curious. I know people from 23 countries besides the US have visited this site, but I'd like to see it. Paul
Thanks to Amber and Leo over at Inside the Net (xml feed) for their interview with one of the founders of Pandora.com. Using this new music search technology, you can put in artists that you like and you'll have similar songs suggested to you. You can augment the list by adding more, but each song has been analyzed, so you'll get similar stuff. Between this and podcasting, the only reason to listen to the radio is for local news. Paul
Are you ready? Really? Okay here's episode 16
Published Wednesday, January 04, 2006 by Paul Clifford.

Episode 16 is on the net. On today's "Tech, No Babel", make your own countdown clock in PowerPoint (tutorial to follow), the first in our series on making your own light kit, leadership lessons from horseback riding and bicycling, and much, much more.

By the way I'm adding entries you'd think that my new year's resolution was to blog more, but it wasn't. I'm just finding great stuff including this article on realigning (vs. redesigning). The author points out the differences and why you'd do each. I'll give you a hint--it has to do with purpose.
Paul
I found a great article with some simple tips for making presentations more effective here. BTW, the next episode of Tech, No Babel is coming soon.
Paul
We just talked about this in episode 15, but I found more tips here. A word of warning, the article contains some profanity.
"Site has a guide on how to make regular camcorder footage look more like film. It talks about colour grading, lighting and other stuff that can make a big difference to amateur productions."

Sometimes I find something so silly, I have to pass it on. The Subservient Chicken is one of those things. Burger King spent their time creating this site to point out that you can have chicken however you want it at their restaurant. Now, I'm pretty sure I could do it w/ some coding help. Anyone else think they could do something similar? Paul
I discovered a site that allows you to create and post a calendar online. In addition, people that need to know your schedule can subscribe to it via RSS. It's located at rssCalendar.com. Just so you know, here's an RSS feed of my month at Quest: Paul's Church Calendar Feed Paul
create your own visited states map
These are the states I've visited. I hope to add more soon. More about that later.
